Last updated May 2026. Short version: we don't sell your data. Ever.

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and whatever professional information you choose to share on your profile: job history, skills, preferences, and so on. None of it is required beyond your name and email.

We store your posts, comments, and direct messages on our servers. We also store activity logs (logins, connection requests, post submissions) for security and moderation purposes.

We don't collect payment information. We don't install tracking pixels. We don't use third-party ad networks or analytics tools that send your data elsewhere.

How we use it

Your data is used to operate the platform: showing your profile, delivering your messages, surfacing your posts in your connections' feeds, and so on. That's it.

If you mark yourself as open to opportunities, that status is visible only to members with recruiter accounts. Your connections can't see it. Your current employer can't see it. We built this specifically so you can explore without risk.

We use your email address to send account-related messages: password resets, warnings, and invitations. We don't send marketing emails.

Who can see your information

Your profile
Visible to all logged-in members. Your name, title, company, and anything you've posted publicly.
Your job-seeking status
You choose. By default it is visible only to people who are actively hiring, and never to anyone at your own company. If you would rather your whole network knew, which is usually the right call once you have left a role, you can say so and your connections see it too. It is never public and never shown to anyone you are not connected to unless they are hiring.
Your messages
Only you and the person you're messaging can see your direct messages. Our admin team can access them for moderation purposes (e.g., investigating a harassment report).
Advertisers
Advertisers see nothing about you personally. They pay for a sidebar placement and that's the extent of the relationship.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. That's the only cookie we set. We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking cookies. If you clear your cookies, you'll need to log in again.

Data storage

Your data is stored on servers in the United States via GoDaddy's shared hosting infrastructure. We take reasonable precautions to secure it, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't make absolute guarantees, but we take it seriously.

Your rights

You can update your profile information at any time. If you want to delete your account and all associated data, contact us and we'll take care of it within 30 days.

If you have questions about what data we hold on you, or want to request a copy of it, get in touch. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

Read our Terms of Use or contact us with questions.
