Terms of Use
Last updated September 2026. These terms apply to everyone on Kithby.
1. Who can use this platform
Kithby is for working professionals. You need to be a real person, using your real name, with an actual professional background. We don't accept fake accounts, anonymous profiles, or accounts created on behalf of a brand or organization.
You must be at least 18 years old. By creating an account, you're confirming that everything on your profile is accurate and represents who you actually are.
2. What you can post
Posts, messages, and comments must be written by you. Not by a language model, not by a copywriter, not by your assistant. Your own words, your own ideas. We actively detect AI-generated content and remove it. Repeated violations result in account suspension.
You can share professional insights, career updates, job openings, industry news, and work-related opinions. What you can't post: political or partisan content, personal attacks, content designed to mislead, and anything that violates someone else's privacy.
If you're a recruiter, you're welcome here. But blast messages, template outreach, and copy-paste scripts aren't. Every message you send needs to be specific to the person receiving it. Sending the same message to several people is blocked.
2a. Reaching people you don't know
Kithby is built on people who know each other, so writing to a stranger is limited on purpose. These are the rules, and they apply to everyone including us.
Members message their connections. If you aren't connected and haven't spoken before, you can't send a direct message. Replying to someone who wrote to you first is always allowed, and so is writing to whoever posted a role you're asking about.
Connection requests have to say why. You pick a reason and, for most of them, write a line explaining it. The person deciding sees both. You can have ten requests waiting for an answer at once; accepting, declining or withdrawing frees a slot, so the limit only ever reflects how many people you've left waiting.
Recruiters and hiring managers can write to people they don't know, because that's the job. They must state why they're reaching out, and the person receiving it sees that reason above the message. How many they may send in a day depends on how they came to be hiring: five for a recruiter account, two for a member who has a role open, one for someone whose role has recently closed. If the ability to write to strangers comes from having posted a role, the message has to be about one of those roles.
Nothing you send disappears. We considered messages that expire and decided against them: if someone is treated badly here, the record of it has to still exist when they tell us. See the privacy page for who can read what.
3. Your account and credentials
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Don't share your account with anyone else. If we find evidence of account sharing, we'll suspend the account without notice.
We can suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these terms. We don't owe you a warning before we act, though in most cases we'll issue one first.
4. Content ownership
You own what you post. By posting on Kithby, you give us a limited license to display your content on the platform. We won't sell your posts, use them for advertising, or share them with third parties for commercial purposes.
If you delete your account, your posts and messages are removed from the platform within a reasonable time. Some information may be retained for legal or safety purposes.
5. Advertisers and promoted content
Advertiser placements appear in the sidebar only. Advertisers do not have access to your personal data, your messages, or your job search status. Paid placements are always labeled clearly. Advertisers have no influence over feed content, moderation decisions, or platform features.
6. No guarantees
Kithby is a platform for connecting professionals. We don't guarantee you'll get a job, find a hire, close a deal, or achieve any specific outcome from using it. We're not responsible for what happens in conversations between members.
The platform is provided as-is. We do our best to keep it running reliably, but we can't promise uninterrupted service and aren't liable for data loss or downtime.
7. Changes to these terms
We'll update these terms when we need to. If something significant changes, we'll let you know via the platform. Continuing to use Kithby after a terms update means you accept the new terms.
